Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has been a pioneer and pace setter in the field of school education since its establishment in 1964. In-service Education and Training of staff is an integral part of the organisation right from its inception. The National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education 2010 emphasizes the role of in-service education on continuing professional development of the teachers.

Every year, thousands of employees take part in the various training programmes conducted by us. Considerable efforts are made to identify the education and training needs of the staff on a regular basis. Based on these inputs, well thought out programmes are designed and conducted. In the year 2017-18 alone more than 200 training programmes were held at different venues all over India. Keeping in view of the pivotal role of training for employees and to further augment the efforts, a focused approach was felt necessary. Accordingly, one Zonal Institute was established at Gwalior in November 2002. Zonal Institute Mumbai came into existence from 1-4 -2003.
