About Zonal Institute of Education and Training Mumbai
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has been a pioneer and pace setter in the field of school education since its establishment in 1964. In-service Education and Training of staff is an integral part of the organisation right from its inception. The National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education 2010 emphasizes the role of in-service education on continuing professional development of the teachers.
Every year, thousands of employees take part in the various training programmes conducted by us. Considerable efforts are made to identify the education and training needs of the staff on a regular basis. Based on these inputs, well thought out programmes are designed and conducted. In the year 2017-18 alone more than 200 training programmes were held at different venues all over India. Keeping in view of the pivotal role of training for employees and to further augment the efforts, a focused approach was felt necessary. Accordingly, Zonal Institute Mumbai came into existence from 1-4 -2003.

The Zonal Institute of Education & Training (ZIET), Mumbai is one of the five ZIETs of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. It came into existence on 1 April 2003 as the second training institute of KVS after ZIET Gwalior. The Institute primarily serves the Western Zone and also organises programmes for teachers and staff from across India.
आंचलिक शिक्षा एवं प्रशिक्षण संस्थान (ZIET), मुंबई केन्द्रीय विद्यालय संगठन के पाँच ZIET संस्थानों में से एक है। यह 1 अप्रैल 2003 को ZIET ग्वालियर के बाद KVS के दूसरे प्रशिक्षण संस्थान के रूप में अस्तित्व में आया। संस्थान मुख्यतः पश्चिमी क्षेत्र की व्यावसायिक विकास एवं प्रशिक्षण आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करता है तथा देशभर के शिक्षकों एवं कर्मचारियों के लिए भी कार्यक्रम आयोजित करता है।

Since 1 April 2003, KVS ZIET Mumbai has been strengthening professional learning through continuous training, capacity building, innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

ZIET मुंबई उभरती शैक्षिक प्राथमिकताओं के अनुरूप निरंतर विकसित होते हुए एक जीवंत व्यावसायिक अधिगम एवं ज्ञान-साझाकरण केंद्र के रूप में कार्य कर रहा है तथा शिक्षकों एवं शैक्षिक नेतृत्वकर्ताओं को रोचक, समावेशी, अनुभवात्मक एवं भविष्य के लिए तैयार अधिगम वातावरण निर्मित करने में सहयोग प्रदान करता है।
The ZIET Mumbai is one of the 05 ZIETs of KVS and caters basically to the Western Zone. This institute focuses on the training of KVS staff especially Teachers from the states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat. However Training and In-service course for Teachers/staff from all over India are also organised. This was the second Training Institute and was established in April 2003.
The ZIET mumbai is built on a campus of approximately .. acres with latest technology and sufficient rooms to train about hundred teachers/staff members simultaneously. The Institute has facility for stay and food for participants in the Campus during training.
The institute is headed by a Director who is one of the Deputy Commissioners of KVS. The members of Faculty are experienced PGTs (nearly 25 years) in different subjects and posted as Training Associates.
The Training in the Primary section is planned by Senior Head Masters as Training Associates (Primary) for the Training Program meant for Teachers handling classes I to V.
The Hybrid Library Media Centre is automated with e-granthalaya library software of NIC New Delhi and a weblog of LMC has also been constructed.
The Non-Teaching staff provide able support for the programmes planned in the Institute.
The ZIET Mumbai is willing and waiting to take up any challenging Assignments pertaining to Training the staff in Education Institutions – not only government, but even from Private Sectors. The Director ZIET, Shri T Prabhudas, can be approached for any Tailor made Training or Inclusion in the Training conducted for Teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan regularly.
